As we await the arrival of Tropical Storm Karen, we have finally locked down the calendar for 3 key Weta events at Fort Walton Yacht Club. We've got a great set of events for US Weta's to come enjoy, and we're planning on even more fun in 2014.
WetaFest 2014: March 7 - 9 - Fort Walton Yacht Club
This is the second year we will have WetaFest, and our goal is 25 boats. As those who attended last year will tell you, spring means breeze at the club, cold drinks, and good times with some well structured racing for the Weta fleet. This year, we will be working harder on accommodations, securing another great set of sponsors, and capturing lessons learned (including the superfly superman leap perfected at last years' event by our friendly Texans). More details to follow as we lock down the NOR and event sponsors. We will work to have rentals available, and if last year was any indicator, you'll want to place deposits quickly.
Trimaran Nationals: March 22 - 23 - Fort Walton Yacht Club
Come for WetaFest, and leave your boat at the club. 3 weeks later, we will be hosting the 2014 Trimaran Nationals. Sharing the course with Farrier and Corsair tri's, this event will include the Wetas and we've worked hard to make it an efficient way to get in 2 great regattas for those boats not local to the Emerald Coast.
The Fall Shootout: September 27 - 28
A concept from the mind of Randy Smyth, the Shootout will be held at 2 locations, and feature everything from paddle boards to beach cats. It's an event open to all beach multi's, and we are expecting a huge turnout across classes. On Saturday, it will be location 1 at Leeside beach, the home of Fudpuckers (our WetaFest sponsor and party host last year), and FWYC on Sunday to wrap up festivities.
Post your questions for the yahoo group, and if we don't know the answer, we will figure it out.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
