For high res logo requirements, such as print or for large format images, use a vector file (or export the full size vector as a .PDF or .PNG image):
You can edit vector and PDF files with Adobe Illustrator or the free Inkscape.

Non-vector Weta logos:
Different image formats produce better results depending on the image type:
.JPG = Lossy compressed file fomat best for photos and for images that don't contain text. Over-compression can create jagged edges.
.PNG = Best for images containing text and photos with text where file size is not an issue
.AI, .SVG = Vector file formats best for text and shapes which have sharp edges and can be scaled to any size without loss of resolution
.GIF = Low resolution, small size files which can be animated
