2018 Cooloola Cup Regatta, AUS

June 01st, 2018

Saturday had a fresh and gusty Westerlies which made for a good ride on the long race to Inskip point and return (13 miles). Peter Hackett in his new Foam Core boat and Glen cleared out and the rest of us swapped the lead back and forth. Peter came in first followed by Glen then myself closely followed by Andres. We followed that with a short race which Glen again won followed by Rod Daley, myself and Peter. Sunday was brilliantly sunny and a very light wind which totally dropped out about start time. We all ended up paddling over to the sandbanks watching the ebb tide and waiting for a breeze which didn’t come. Eventually racing was abandoned and we had to walk our boats about a mile back through the shallows then paddle across the creek to get home, or at least Peter and I did and the others ended up getting a tow.

In the overall results Glen won the regatta, Peter Hackett can third and I came fourth. In the Wetas it was Glen, Peter and myself. No apparent difference between boats but my new jib did seem to give me a bit extra. A good weekend even if Sunday was a wash out.
