March 09th, 2015

Linda Wright's final prep for the Everglades 300 Challenge - A 300 mile adventure race from Tampa to Key Largo.

When Linda finishes she will be the first solo woman to complete the Everglades Challenge as well as the first Weta. This is no leisurely sail and last year's winner - former Olympian Randy Smyth has been contributing to her boat optimization and preparation. You can follow her progress at http://www.watertribe.com/Events/ChallengeGMapper.aspx she is Gadget Girl. Good Luck Linda!

The race today was cancelled after about two hours due to the many reported rescues by the CG. What a shame. Many of the racers were not aware of the cancellation until they arrived at the checkpoint. Linda said it was the best day of sailing she had ever had! She checked in 5th in out of 140 boats. First solo boat, first woman and the smallest boat in the picture. 60 miles in a little over seven hours. Way to go Linda!
