Video: Lake Ngaroto Regatta

November 19th, 2020

What a glorious place. For those that didn’t make the trip to this regatta they missed a great weekend. Set in the middle of Waikato dairy farms the Ngaroto Sailing Club were excellent hosts and put on a good regatta in difficult conditions.

10 races in two days on a small inland lake made for interesting windward beats, exciting tight reaches and challenging downhill runs with lead changes on most legs of each race. In the end it came down to the last race with an overall win to Terry from Alex by two points and Roger 3rd.

All Weta sailors stayed on site with a motor home, tents and sleeping in the back of a SUV.

Put this event on your calendar for next year because it is one that shouldn’t be missed. Where else can you sail your boat up onto the grass and step off on dry land.
