Last weekend, 16 Wetas crewed by the nicest bunch of sailors from Central and South-East Qld, Sydney, and Melbourne took to the warm flat waters of Boreen Point Lake Cootharaba and joined in the fun with nearly 100 boats at the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club’s Mono Masters Championships.

Here is new boy Tim punching the Weta along on the seasons wrap-up Saturday race. Just before the start a great cloud came over Changi and produced a very nice 20 knot Northerly! Uncharacteristic but who cares.

A container of new generation foam Weta will be arriving in the UK in the new year. These boats have been re-engineered with foam sandwich construction, new North sails and a new Harken continuous furler. The new Weta are spectacular.

After a chilly couple of cold and wet days Timaru dawned clear, bright and warm against the white mountain backdrop. We kicked off mid-morning with David Kennett down from Christchurch joining the four Timaru Wetas to lead a boat set-up discussion. Great session thanks David.
