A last minute addition to the Florida schedule drew eight Weta sailors to the Cherry Pie Regatta at Sarasota Sailing Squadron in Florida on February 16th. Winds were howling, halyards were clanking and some technical difficulties left a few on the beach.

Weta sailors officially came out of winter hibernation in time for Florida’s 10th annual Charlotte Harbor Regatta on February 1-3. On Thursday, the picturesque Port Charlotte beach quickly became jam packed as Wetas arrived becoming the largest fleet in this three day event.

Last week 15 Weta gathered in Waitangi to take part in Bay Week, a massive celebration including keelboats and multihulls ranging in size from superyachts to the Weta. Each day there were two windward leeward courses and an island race.

Segeln mit Stützrädern? Die WETA, eine auf der Südhalbkugel vorkommende Spezies der Langfühlerschrecken und eines der umstrittensten Konzepte für ein Segelboot Design der letzten 10 Jahr. Der in Neu-Seeland beheimatete Hersteller wollte ein Boot, dass leicht in offener See bei 16 Knoten zu segeln ist.
